Prostate Cancer
Symptoms
In its early stages, prostate cancer often does not cause any symptoms. The symptoms of prostate cancer include:
- Frequent urination, particularly at night
- Difficulty urinating
- Weak or interrupted flow of urine
- Pain or burning during urination
- Difficulty in having an erection
- Painful ejaculation (release of semen)
- Blood in the urine or semen
- Pain in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs
The symptoms of prostate cancer are very similar to those seen with other less serious conditions, such as an enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) or an infection. Therefore, it is important to bring any such symptoms to the attention of a doctor.
